Origin of Mountain Names

Yunju Mountain is the remnant of the Jiuling Mountains, formerly known as "Oushan". According to legend, in the late Warring States period, during the merger of Qin and the Six Kingdoms, King Huai of Chu was deceived into entering Qin. Chu general Ou Ji sought refuge in Kuanglu to protect King Kang, a descendant of King Huai of Chu. Qin general Wang Jian rushed after him. In the chaos, King Kang got lost, and Ou Ji searched for him everywhere. He then followed this mountain to cultivate his way. In memory of Ou Ji, people called this mountain "Ou Shan";

After Li Tang, people renamed this mountain "Yunju Mountain", abbreviated as "Yunshan", as it was "majestic and towering, often embraced by clouds and mist".
